The ATL Chapter of ACT-SO is proud to support and uplift talented youth of African descent who demonstrate excellence in academics, the arts, leadership, and community engagement. Through mentorship, education, and competition, ACT-SO continues to invest in the next generation of changemakers, creatives, scholars, and civic leaders.
About ACT-SO
ACT-SO, the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics, was founded in 1978 by author and journalist Vernon Jarrett under the NAACP. The program provides students with year-round enrichment opportunities, including workshops, mentorship, tutorials, and field experiences, designed to help them develop their talents and compete at the highest level.
Each year, students participate in local competitions that celebrate their hard work and achievements. Gold medal winners advance to the national competition, where they compete for scholarships, awards, and national recognition.
