The fight for civil rights is inseparable from the fight for health equity. In Atlanta, the NAACP Health Committee is tackling health disparities that disproportionately affect Black and underserved communities — from maternal mortality and heart disease to mental health and environmental health concerns.
Through partnerships with local clinics, hospitals, and public health agencies, we’re working to expand healthcare access, raise awareness of preventative care, and advocate for policies that close the racial health gap.
The NAACP Atlanta Branch also promotes community wellness initiatives, including free health screenings, fitness events, and educational workshops designed to empower individuals to take control of their health.
“Equity in healthcare means every Atlantan — no matter where they live — deserves the chance to live a long, healthy life,” said a Health Committee spokesperson.
