Volunteer Terms & Conditions
NAACP Atlanta Branch Aligned with NAACP National Policies

By submitting a volunteer application and/or participating in volunteer activities with the NAACP Atlanta Branch, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to the following terms and conditions, which are aligned with NAACP National policies, bylaws, and standards of conduct.
1. Relationship to NAACP National
The NAACP Atlanta Branch is a chartered unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and operates in accordance with NAACP National bylaws, policies, codes of conduct, and governance standards.
All volunteers are expected to uphold the mission, values, and principles of the NAACP at both the national and local levels.
2. Volunteer Status
Volunteers are not employees, agents, or contractors of the NAACP Atlanta Branch or NAACP National. Volunteer service is unpaid and does not entitle individuals to wages, benefits, or compensation.
Volunteer participation is at will and may be ended at any time by the volunteer or the NAACP Atlanta Branch, with or without cause.
3. Eligibility, Screening & Selection
Submission of a volunteer application does not guarantee placement. Volunteers are selected based on organizational needs, skills, availability, and alignment with NAACP values.
Certain volunteer roles may require:
- Orientation or training
- Background screening (where appropriate)
- Approval by branch leadership or committee chairs
4. Code of Conduct & Professional Behavior
Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with NAACP National standards of integrity, respect, and accountability.
Volunteers must:
- Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
- Avoid discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or abusive conduct
- Follow instructions from authorized NAACP leadership
- Maintain professionalism at meetings, events, and online spaces
Violation of conduct standards may result in immediate removal from volunteer service.
5. Nonpartisanship & Political Activity
The NAACP is a nonpartisan organization.
While volunteering or representing the NAACP Atlanta Branch, volunteers may not:
- Endorse or oppose political candidates or parties
- Engage in partisan political activity
- Use NAACP platforms, events, or branding for partisan purposes
All civic engagement efforts must align with NAACP National nonpartisan guidelines.
6. Confidentiality & Data Protection
Volunteers may have access to confidential, sensitive, or personal information related to members, clients, legal matters, or internal operations.
Volunteers agree to:
- Maintain confidentiality during and after service
- Use information only for authorized NAACP purposes
- Not disclose, copy, or misuse protected information
Breaches of confidentiality may result in termination of volunteer service and further action if necessary.
7. Media, Communications & Public Representation
Volunteers may not speak on behalf of the NAACP Atlanta Branch or NAACP National unless explicitly authorized.
Additionally:
- Volunteers may be photographed or recorded at events
- Media use of images or recordings will follow NAACP policies
- Public statements must reflect approved NAACP positions
8. Use of NAACP Name, Logo & Materials
The NAACP name, logo, branding, and materials are protected assets.
Volunteers may not:
- Use NAACP branding for personal, political, or commercial purposes
- Create or distribute materials without authorization
- Represent themselves as official NAACP spokespeople
9. Safety, Conduct & Assumption of Risk
Volunteers agree to follow all safety guidelines, policies, and instructions provided during activities or events.
Participation may involve inherent risks. Volunteers assume responsibility for their conduct and agree that the NAACP Atlanta Branch is not liable for personal injury or loss except as required by law.
10. Technology & Digital Conduct
Volunteers may use NAACP-approved digital tools for communication and coordination. Volunteers agree to:
- Use technology responsibly and respectfully
- Avoid misuse of email lists, data, or platforms
- Comply with NAACP digital communication guidelines
11. Acknowledgment & Agreement
By submitting a volunteer application and/or participating in volunteer service, you affirm that:
- All information provided is accurate
- You agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions
- You support the mission and values of the NAACP
- You understand that failure to comply may result in removal
