The ATL NAACP Branch continues to advocate for comprehensive criminal justice reform that prioritizes fairness, community trust, and rehabilitation over punishment.
Working alongside local leaders, advocacy groups, and the Atlanta Police Department, our Legal Redress and Criminal Justice Committees are focused on advancing reforms that address racial disparities in arrests, sentencing, and incarceration. We’re also pushing for increased transparency in policing, expanded mental health response programs, and stronger re-entry support for returning citizens.
Recent efforts include hosting forums on policing reform, supporting bail reform legislation, and monitoring community-police relations across Atlanta neighborhoods.
“Justice cannot depend on your race, income, or zip code,” said President David Means. “True public safety begins with fairness, accountability, and opportunity.”
